All learning is a process of self-discovery .
We must avoid the tendency to provide the answers for that athlete.
Watching a repetition, pointing out a mistake, and providing the solution is too does not encourage discovery – there is little, if any learning in this process.
It’s our jobs not provide the answers to the puzzle, but instead ask the right questions: questions that the athlete will struggle with, but that which we expect at least partial success in finding the answer.
It is through this process that the athlete will leap across the heuristic gap from Bernstein’s stage l (Based in Cognition) to stage ll (automated movement) of motor learning.
